Polyethylene granules from Iran – buyer’s guide for Pakistan

Pakistan does not produce polyethylene, so every tonne of HDPE, LDPE and LLDPE used by its converters is imported. Iranian polyethylene is one of the closest sources: containers from Bandar Abbas reach Karachi or Port Qasim in a few days and trucks can cross at Taftan. Choose by process

HDPE, LDPE or LLDPE?

HDPE (density about 0.94–0.96 g/cm³) is stiff and strong – the choice for thin bags, rigid injection and blow-moulded parts and pressure pipe. LDPE (about 0.92 g/cm³) is soft, clear and easy to seal – ideal for shrink and lamination film. LLDPE (about 0.92 g/cm³) combines low density with much higher toughness and is usually blended with LDPE for strong film.

Reading a polyethylene datasheet

• Melt flow rate (MFR/MFI): low values (below 1) mean high molecular weight – strong film and pipe; high values mean easy flow for injection moulding.
• Density: higher density means higher stiffness and lower clarity.
• Test conditions: always compare MFR at the same temperature and load (for example 190 °C / 2.16 kg).

Market overview

Polyethylene imports into Pakistan are dominated by film grades, followed by injection, blow moulding and pipe grades. Karachi is the main trading hub, with converters spread across Karachi, Lahore, Faisalabad, Gujranwala and Peshawar. Rates move with regional polyethylene prices, freight and the rupee, which is why many buyers follow a weekly rate list before they book.

What to check before you buy

• The exact grade code and producer printed on the bag.
• MFR and density on the lot certificate – they must match the datasheet.
• Packing: original 25 kg producer bags on pallets, dry and undamaged.
• Shipping documents that match the goods: invoice, packing list and certificate of origin.

Grade notes

HDPE EX5 – HDPE EX5 is a high-molecular-weight, bimodal high density polyethylene with 1-butene as comonomer. It combines good stiffness and tenacity with a low gel level, producing strong blown films with a paper-like feel for bags and wrapping. Key strengths: high molar mass film grade, good stiffness & tenacity, low gel level. In Pakistan it is used for T-shirt carrier bags, shopping bags and thin, paper-like HDPE film.

HDPE 62N07 – HDPE 62N07 is an injection moulding grade with good impact strength, easy processing, high rigidity and UV resistance. It is especially suitable for crates, pallets, boxes, seats and heavy-duty housewares. Key strengths: high rigidity, good impact strength, uv resistant. In Pakistan it is used for fruit and vegetable crates, bottle crates, pallets and buckets.

HDPE BL3 – HDPE BL3 is a blow moulding grade with 1-butene comonomer. High rigidity and an excellent balance of stiffness and environmental stress-crack resistance make it ideal for detergent and medicine bottles and all bottles and small containers below 5 litres. Key strengths: high density & stiffness, good flow & impact strength, good stress-crack resistance. In Pakistan it is used for detergent, shampoo, edible-oil and medicine bottles up to 5 litres.

PE100 Black – PE100 Black is a bimodal high density polyethylene pipe compound with 1-butene comonomer and finely dispersed carbon black. It delivers top-quality PE100 pressure pipes for water and gas at higher pressures or thinner walls than PE80, with long-term UV protection. Key strengths: pe100 black compound, excellent slow-crack-growth resistance, uv protected. In Pakistan it is used for water mains, gas distribution pipe and pressure ducts for utility projects.

LDPE 2420H – LDPE 2420H is a non-additivated low density polyethylene for blown and cast film. It offers good heat sealing, good optical properties and easy processing for medium-gauge films of 70 – 220 µm: packaging film, bags, pouches and shrink film. Not intended for medical applications. Key strengths: good heat seal, high clarity & gloss, good processability. In Pakistan it is used for shrink film, heavy-duty bags, lamination and medium-gauge packaging film.

LLDPE 209 – LLDPE 209 is a butene-1 LLDPE copolymer with antioxidant for general-purpose film, also suitable for blending with LDPE. Compared with conventional LDPE it gives better sealing, higher puncture resistance, greater draw-down and higher tensile strength. Food-contact grade. Key strengths: better sealing, high puncture resistance, greater draw-down. In Pakistan it is used for agricultural film, liners, FFS sacks and LDPE/LLDPE blends for stronger film.

Supply to Pakistan

We ship polyethylene granules from Iran in 25 kg bags on pallets (jumbo bags on request). Sea freight goes in 20′ and 40′ containers from Bandar Abbas to Karachi or Port Qasim; inland buyers can also receive trucks via Taftan. The shipping mode, route and Incoterm are agreed for each order, depending on quantity, destination and timing. Every shipment travels with a commercial invoice, packing list, certificate of origin and the producer datasheet.

Frequently asked questions

Is Iranian polyethylene prime or recycled?

All grades on this site are prime, virgin polyethylene produced by Iranian petrochemical plants and supplied in the producer’s original bags.

How are rates quoted for Pakistan?

We quote per tonne for the agreed Incoterm – for example CFR Karachi / Port Qasim by sea or delivered by truck via Taftan – based on the weekly market.

Can I mix grades in one container?

Yes, mixed loads of two or three grades are possible; tell us the tonnage of each grade when you enquire.
